RESEARCH INTERNSHIP STUDENTS

	Virginie Lajeunesse (Summer2013) Having been interested by different fields of studies during my academic path, I'm currently finishing my bachelor's degree in psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal. During the past years, I had the chance to work as a research assistant in the Groupe McGill d'Études sur le Suicide (GMES) at the l'Institut Universitaire en Santé Mentale Douglas, where I was exposed to clinical research in a psychiatric environment. I was also a behavioural psychosocial counsellor at the Clinique d'Approche Béhaviorale en Autisme, helping clients struggling with pervasive developmental disorder and intellectual disabilities. Recently, I have joined the research team of Professor Stéphane Dandeneau as a research assistant. I currently work on the research project of doctoral student Élise Chaperon, which focuses on different aspects of the quality of the conjugal relationships. Furthermore, my research interests focus primarily on the link between self-esteem, self-image and health behaviors. I am also interested in interpersonal relationships and their influence on an individual's well-being.
	Valerie Guilbault (Summer 2013) Je suis candidate au doctorat (profil scientifique-professionnel) en psychologie sociale à l'Université du Québec À Montréal (UQÀM) sous la direction du professeur Frédérick L. Philippe depuis automne 2013. Le sujet de ma thèse concerne l'intelligence émotionnelle dans une perspective dyadique. Ainsi, je suis très intéressée aux processus qui interviennent dans les relations interpersonnelles et dans les interactions sociales. Au niveau clinique, je m'intéresse particulièrement à l'apprentissage d'habiletés sociales, au traitement de la dépression et des troubles anxieux. Lors de mon baccalauréat à l'UQÀM, j'ai complété une thèse de spécialisation en psychologie de l'éducation sous la supervision du professeur Jacques Forget dans laquelle j'ai construit et testé une grille de comportements créatifs pour les enfants d'âge préscolaire. J'ai également été récipiendaire de la Bourse de Recherche de Premier Cycle du Conseil de Recherches en Sciences Natures et en Génie du Canada entre ma première et deuxième année du baccalauréat. Cette bourse est associée à un stage de recherche que j'ai effectué avec le Dr Louis Bherer.
	Joelle Carpentier (2012–2013) Doctoral student in psychology (research profile) at the Université de Montréal since January 2011, I'm interested in the behavior traits of sport coaches that allow them to reinforce their athlete's autonomy, and therefore maximize their motivation, well-being and the quality of their performance. My doctoral research focuses more specifically on the provisioning of negative retroaction supporting autonomy. Following a graduate course given by Prof. Stéphane Dandeneau, I discovered the importance of the implicit processes and I developed an interest in social cognition. Shortly after, I decided to start a research internship with Prof. Dandeneau to develop my understanding of this field of studies. During this research internship, we have studied the implicit impact of social environments sustaining autonomy and controlling environments, such as defined by the theory of determinism.
